Day 2

Our baggage arrived this morning!!!! That's the most important news. =)

The coolest part of yesterday was walking to the appointment. Such awesome sights, streets, houses!!
I know, I know - everyone knows what San Fran looks like, but I couldn't help snapping some photos. All these tall skinny houses, stacked together like sandwiches!
Dr Chan was a very, very nice guy who, after the hour of waiting on him, was very clear and decisive in both his manner and his ideas for me. He laid out a plan for what to do over the next few months and what happens when Doxil fails, and he'll send that plan on to my home-town docs. We're hoping the Houston docs have a little bit more positive attitude because his was more, 'when this fails, try this...' 'then when that fails, we'll go to this...' No encouragement about anything actually working or curing.

Then "Aunt" VernaAnn picked us up and we had the most amazing meal in the most amazing place on the ocean with her and Russ, Sharon, Craig and Kevin Farnell. Then headed home for much needed rest.

For today... not much. Just want to do whatever doesn't overwhelm, so we're playing it by ear. Hope all's well with all of you and Dave, we're surely thinking of you today!!! Wish we were there.

Great to see you're at least having wonderful weather for your SF jaunt! And glad that your luggage finally caught up w/ you =) Nice you can get acquainted w/ some of the NoCal folks.

Had to chuckle at your last line, though. Usually, folks on a trip write "wish you were here"!

It was good to read your blog news around noon today. We were glad your luggage "found" your hotel and the visit with the Doctor went ok. Tell my cousins Hello if you see them again

Good to hear from you and know that you are enjoying the sights. We have sure been thinkin of you. Hope Houston has some other ideas more encouraging ones at least. See you at home, when you get here.

Hey there. I see that you've made it to our fair city. We know Russell and Sharon quite well and I'm glad that you were able to be with them. And VernaAnn?? There's only one VernaAnn that I know of around here and it's a cousin to my dad! Could it possibly be the same one? I'll be curious to know. Wouldn't that be a funny coincidence...

How long will you be here? Is there anything you need? I'm sure Sharon has taken you under her very helpful wings, but do say if there's anything we can do to help.

Thinking of you both.

Thank goodness the luggage came though...being from WY, you'd be able to bring creativity and craftiness to life, but now you don't have to! :) Hear you're headed to humid Houston! I'll be keeping a close ear as to how those days go! Mom and dad were very happy to hear from you! Hugs, hugs and more hugs from us! LW

Thanks for taking the time to update us all in the midst of your trip! What a memorable trip you'll have - seems like you're making lemonade out of the lemons!
Can't wait for the next update - and sure hope Houston has a new perspective!
All our love,
Justin, Mel & kiddos

p.s. the auction went great, would've been fun to have you there! Dad & Monte are headed south today to visit Morgan & Michelle for the week - and to get some much need R&R hopefully!

What a surprise to see you are updating as you are travelling. I had settled into waiting for you to get back to hear anything. Thanks for taking the time. I'm glad you are enjoying fun, different things that Wyo folks don't see. And I am so glad you are there together...with your luggage. :) I'm glad you have Houston ahead of you instead of heading home with this doc's not so bright perspective. Lots of thoughts coming your way from our direction. Can you feel them?? :)

Thanks for posting an update - we are all interested, as you know. I'm anxious to hear what the Texas docs have to say - I feel a special connection to M. D. Anderson and to Houston, after all the time we spent there. I hope you have (or had?) a good trip across the country - that your flight arrangements go a little more as planned this time. We had a fun weekend with 24 young people here - they seemed to thoroughly enjoy the time together and it was a joy to have them around.

Thanks for the update. We are thinking of you as you see the sites and visit with the docs. Hoping you will hear encouraging words on your next stop. Hopefully you don't get too tired to enjoy the different sites.

Hi again. I spoke with Sharon at gosp. mtg. tonight and she confirmed that the "Aunt" VernaAnn who picked you up is none other than the round-about relative of my dad's. All these little lines that connect people. Anyway, Sharon was able to share how you're connected and so I feel like I know you a little better!

We're sure thinking of you both. Our thoughts will be with you in Houston. Take care.

jay are... Wish I knew you better now. I'm SURE there aren't too many VernaAnn's in CA, so I bet we're talking about the same one. She's my grandma's niece (her mom married to G'ma's brother until he died). Maybe we're related in some distant, far-off way. =)

I think it's possible. I have to wrack my brains to remember how she's a cousin to my dad. So...what a small world, eh? If you're ever back this way, it'd be great to meet you.
