Brief Update

I'm going to assume most of you have seen my email update, so won't repeat everything here -
But the gist of the latest news is this:
The doc I went to see for a second opinion tells me I need to be seen elsewhere, by someone who's an expert in ovarian cancer. We are in wholehearted agreement although of course this isn't the best time of year for us to take off. She tells me I cannot wait until the haying is done as my cancer is extremely aggressive and worrisome, so... we (or at least I) will be taking off before long, I'd imagine.

She telephoned yesterday to say she's contacted a colleague at the Univ of CA - San Fran - with whom she's seen excellent results in other ovarian cancer patients. I attempted to phone them to set up an appointment but haven't heard back yet. In the meantime, I started the second chemo round which is doing its best to wipe me out. I'd forgotten what this felt like, and with all there is to do, it is such a pain to have no energy, but I'm trying to take it easy because if I don't, the weary stage lasts even longer.

On cheerier sides of things, the haying is going well in spite of taking time off for the whole of Cody. We love the lesson that when we take time to put spiritual things first, we are never sorry.

Thanks for taking the time to do an update, even though you maybe didn't really feel up to it with your energy zapped. Please hang in there and take good care of yourself! If you don't hear from them in a day or 2, call again to jog their memory! Distance-wise, San Francisco is a lot closer than back east - Bill flies there several times a year and usually has good flights and connections. We are sure thinking of you! If you are up to it, we hope to see you at least once when we are there next week. With love and care, Chris & family

Hi there little lady........Oh, but I have thought of you over and over and wondered how you were feeling..just "done in" it sounds like. Ahhh, that is the pitts, but goes with the territory of course. I agree with the previous comment.....THANKS for the update even when you had no "oomph". I appreciate hearing SO very much and it is quite exciting to think you will soon be seen by successful doctors that have experience and a "track record" with ovarian cancer. Much love, Renee in NE

Hi there, you don't know me but I think you know my husband Jeremy. We've been keeping up with you and think of you often. You inspire us actually. I wanted to mention that I'm from CA and know some of the friends in the Bay Area who would love to hear from you should you go out that way. They actually have the mid-week study. Just drop me a line on our blog and I'll do the rest. Hang in there!

Thinking of you! Thanks for taking the time and energy to keep us updated out here. I am hoping all goes well with the specialist, and wanted you to know that your spirit through all of this is an inspiration!

Its so great to hear that your doctors are referring you to someone who will be able to take very special care of you. That must be such a comfort to you. You sound like you have your 'chin up', and I admire that so much! Thinking of you often.

Good to know that there is somewhere you can go that knows what to do and how to care for you. Will be thinking of you and hoping things go well!

Hope you have someone to go with you if Andy can't. It is hard to make a trip like this alone.

Best wishes and prayers go with you.

Too bad your cancer doesn't understand how busy haying time is! :) Seriously, we are glad there is a specialist you can put some hope in because of her track record and how well acquainted she is with your specific cancer. Sending smiles and hugs your way... Morgan and Michelle

Just thinking of you today and thinking that I hope things go as smoothly as they can! I wonder if you can't get through to the San Fran people, maybe you should have your doctor you just met with call them to arrange an appointment. With my stuff, if I couldn't get an answer or was pushed away ("We can make an appointment for you three months out") I just called my doc back and 9 times out of 10 within the half hour I had an appointment set up with my NEW doc within the next week. It's another reason that they're there, so don't hesitate to have them set up the appointment!

This, too, shall pass, so keep on keeping on!! Lots of love!

Hi Andy and Ray!:) Thinking of you two SOOOO much. Sorry to hear you're feeling poorly again - rats!!! Hope you get your zest back after some rest! No words can really tell you how much we are all pulling for you in every way. Wherever you end up going for the specialist, do know you'll be taking lots of hugs, care, love, and prayer with you!!!

Michelle, thank you for the update and I'm hoping things work out for you to be seen ASAP by the SF specialist. You have youth and strength on your side in this battle; my mother had ovarian & even with her age & health already against her, she had a number of good years after the diagnosis. Keep your spirits up! If we were still living up north I'd be happy to do what I could while you're in the Bay Area, but it sounds like Amy will be able to get you in touch there. That's one of the many beauties about this great & wonderful Family we belong to!

hi there MIchelle-
You may not know me either, but I know that you would recognize me if you saw me. I went to Laramie and know your bro. I would love for you to email me so I can get your email address. My grandma had the same kind of cancer and was cured through some easy alternative treatment options. And, 13 years later, she was still at Cody Convention this year! I know it sounds too good to be true, but, hey- we have to have faith right! you can visit my blog or email me- You are such an amazing inspiration! smahoney@co.carbon.mt.us

Let me add my thanks for the update. Hope you have a bit of energy back now, but if you don't take your rest as you need it. We are thinking of you every day. Maybe you have an appointment by now with the new doctor. I have the summer off if there is anything I can do to help.
