Hi all ya'll! Thanks for your comments and emails!! We're doing great - heading home in the morning, already. Hard to believe!!
Yesterday's appointment was basically a repeat of San Francisco's. We decided we must need to exhaust the 'normal' chemo options before I excite the big wig doctors into suggesting new/advanced treatments. Even with my repeated questions and requests, she had nothing to offer except what we've been doing and then more chemo. .... We admit to being a bit suprised as we surely hoped for some exciting news here, but we'll just head home and get back onto Doxil treatments, keeping our fingers crossed for a good response.
It's so lovely here though. Everyone complains about the heat, but truthfully we feel it's just as hot at home. And due to the frigid air conditioning everywhere it actually feels grand to soak the heat in when you step outside. =) The hotel has a covered walkway to the different hospital buildings and a wonderful shuttle service, provided free (notice I didn't say "FOR free" Michelle B. *smile*), so getting around is pleasantly simple.
Although this doesn't do it justice, here's a photo of the hotel atrium in the lobby. Like I said, it's so lovely here! Everyone does such wonderful things with lawns and landscaping!

Couple quick things:
Shell, please tell Hannah B that we'd love to contact her if/when we come back down here. We've enjoyed ourselves with the little time we've had, but it'd be great to hear from a local about great things to see and do. And the same for all of you California friends... it'd be great to keep in touch in case we head West again.
THANKS everyone!
Even though disappointing that no "new and advanced" treatments were suggested, it is encouraging to know that you are already doing what the experts in the field are saying you should be doing at the present. So we'll hope for a good response to that. Have a good trip home..........you've really put in a lot of miles in a short time!! Harold and Carol
Well, phooey on 2 counts! But at least you did what you could & didn't leave any unturned stones behind. It's good be assured that you're already on the right track, so your trip was not for naught in the medical category, to say nothing of the new experiences it afforded you! Continue to keep up the fight...and please keep up the great blogs =)
I bet it is going to feel good to get home, see your animals, snuggle up on the couch with a few cats and dogs who will be overjoyed to see you, etc. And we're pulling to unusually good responses to the treatment you are already doing. Glad you went...glad you're home. much love
I mean, pulling FOR good responses. One of these days I'll learn to proof read before I put a comment out there for the world to see. :)
Wow! You've made a circle that only a crazy pharmaceutical rep would make...but we're so glad you did! It's fun to see new sights and you make it sound very amazing! We're glad you heard that you're doing the best you can do and we too hope your body responds "over the top"! Hang in there and we'll enjoy keeping posted! LW
I agree w/ Harold & Carol...to know that you're already doing what the experts suggest should be a comforting feeling! Thanks for keeping us so updated, though! Enjoy the comforts of home when you get there. :)
And I agree with you on air-conditioning. When it's set so cold, I'd almost rather there wasn't any! Note I said 'almost'... ;)
Glad to hear you're on your way home, and like everyone else has said that you're already doing all you can. Hopefully that works and you won't even have to travel any more!
Michelle, I remember visiting dad down there. Did you get to see any little lizards that crawl around all over the place outside? I remember a really big waterfall in one of the lobbies, and someone playing the grand piano it was beautiful. I am glad that you and Andy are back home. We hope to make it up there sometime soon. Lots of love and hugs.
Great work.
