Wyoming

We had good travels – found we really liked San Francisco, it’s beautiful and fun and has a unique sense of grace and style that sets it apart from other cities – but are glad to be home, too. Our flights home were pleasantly boring other than flying through a thunderstorm on the way home and pitying the poor out-of-staters who never have to ride our little puddle-jumper planes. They were rather green around the gills and one poor fellow (tough, outdoorsy type, coming to spend a week camping and fishing here) had to make rather expedient use of the airsickness bag. Made me feel tough, even though I too was approaching queasiness. =)

One thing of note: I finally found out my CA-125 and it is down. (457 before chemo, 349 after a couple chemo doses). Although not a huge drop, it is, of course, good news and is actually rather surprising to my healthcare team. Even a rise in CA-125 is considered normal after starting Doxil because it simply takes awhile to work, if it’s going to at all. So we are cautiously optimistic about that.

Life’s good though. It’s good to be home, nice to hear only quiet farm sounds without the constant rush and roar of traffic and people. A person forgets how beautiful it is here until they return. Guess it’s good to leave once in awhile so you don’t keep taking it for granted.

Very happy about the lower CA125 count...any news like that is good news. Glad that you found The City by the Bay so appealing...it's a lovely place with its own unique character that's fun to visit, but I wouldn't care to live there. Having such good weather during your stay was a plus too...that can make a big difference =) But truly, there's no place like home, is there. We've never been to your part (yet) but you sure make it sound appealing! Take care.

Glad to hear you're home, even more happy to hear about the CA125 count. Hopefully it continues on a (dramatic) downward slope :)

Glad you got good news about your CA125 count!

Know what you mean about enjoying the peace and quiet. When we first moved out to the country after years of living in town, I would sit on the deck and just enjoy listening to how quiet it was. Of course when you have lived just one block from the railroad tracks, you really love being miles away from them!! :-)

I can't imagine living in San Fran either, but it has got the most unique sense about it
Oh and it was COLD. Not just a little bit cold, but just downright to-the-bone chilly. I guess I thought it'd be warmer just because it was August.

I got to chuckling today thinking that city folks would probably take their traffic and railroad sounds over the farm SMELLS. =) Wonder if you gotta be a born-in-the-blood farm girl to enjoy even the smells of the farm?

Yes, how GOOD it is to be home, and GOOD that you are home! (Oh, and I enjoy farm smells too!)

Yes it is always good to come home isn't it. Good news about your CA 125. Hopefully that is a trend that continues. I miss the farm smells for sure but I find them stronger than I remember them being when I lived there all the time. Retha

Well, yahoo, about the numbers dropping!! That is great...obviously Doxil is doing its job, so good good good!!
I certainly agree with the no-place-like-home sentiments. Farm smells?...some are fine, others are not... freshly mown alfalfa....one of the best........freshly rained on cow manure....one of the worst!

Much love, Renee

I hope this finds you folks doing well today. It is always good to read you blog and keep up with you. I agree that some farm smells are great and the freshly cut alfalfa has always been a favorite. When we have alfalfa close to the house I always think about setting a hammock up and sleeping out there...so far that has always just been a thought. I have also always liked the smell of branding, which is one that most folks don't like. Do take care and know that you are often in our hearts and minds. Linda

So good to hear the count is better...No there isn't anything better than farm smell..unless you go into the house at the end of the day of doing the chores, to the smell of fresh baked goods!!

Speaking of smells, when someone has to use the airsickness bag, doesn't that smell just make your own queasiness worse? I'll take the farm smells any day... :-)
